Yard House Restaurants
Yard House takes its name from the 3-foot-tall glass containers originally designed in Great Britain and used to hand stagecoach a sufficient sampling of beer to drivers after a long journey by horse drawn carriage. Each Yard House location features a center island bar and an endless fleet of tap handles ranging from classic lagers to more obscure ales. The glass-enclosed keg room is essentially the pulse of the operation housing as much as 5,000 gallons of beer at a time. Three to five miles of individual beer lines stretch overhead from the keg room to the island bar maintaining a constant temperature of 34-36 degrees keeping the beer consistently fresh and perfectly chilled for every pint. Guests can sip their favorite draft beer from the popular half-yard, traditional pint or six pack sampler.
In 2003 Yard House called on Dreambox to revamp their public web site after another Dreambox client was awarded the top national chain restaurant web site by a respected trade publication. Since that time Dreambox and Yard House have worked to design, build and deploy three progressive public web sites along with an ever-growing Intranet to support internal operations. Additionally Yard House boasts one of the most innovative mobile-applications in the industry allowing users to search for and rate beers at nearby locations, view in real-time what music is being heard at each restaurant and receive door to door directions, all from a smart-phone.

The Saltgrass Steakhouse story dates back to the 1800s, when millions of Longhorns roamed freely throughout Texas. With the taste for beef becoming a newfound favorite in the North, Texas ranchers prospered as never before. Each winter the Longhorn were driven to the Texas Gulf Coast to graze on the rich coastal salt grass. And when they headed for market, they followed the legendary Salt Grass Trail, known far and wide for creating the best beef in the Lone Star State. In 1952, this historic trail ride was revived by four riders to publicize the opening of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. Today, the ride has become an annual celebration of the original Texas spirit. The first Saltgrass Steak House still stands along this historic trail.
After working with Landry’s successfully on the Claim Jumper brand for over two years Dreambox was brought in to work with the Saltgrass Steakhouse concept. In addition to taking their previously ipad and mobile unfriendly web site and making it fully ipad and iphone compatible without sacrificing any functionality and maintainability Dreambox has led an online advertising campaign to drive additional guest traffic.

On the social-media side Facebook pages for each of their BullsEye Bar concepts have been consolidated into a single centrally-managed Facebook page complete with custom tabs, Google Analytics tracking and more. After working for many years behind a deli counter for his uncles and at various delis, Ron Peskin was offered a management position with an existing, but failing deli in Northridge, California. He respectfully declined the position, so the owner proposed he buy the business, bad debt and all. With close to no money and a lot of advice against the purchase, Ron and his wife Patricia forged into a new business in 1969 with all of 11 employees and one delivery truck. Funny thing, they had a son whose name is also Brent, so the deli kept its name. “For eighteen months I never took a day off," Ron recalls. "I made every sandwich. I wanted everyone to be perfect."
After being rated the #1 delicatessen in the United States 16 years running by Zagat, Brent’s Deli has begun an exciting period of expansion. The company needed a long-term partner to support their promotional and technology-related initiatives. First coming to Dreambox in 2012, Brent’s Deli has already had Dreambox design and build a new public-facing web site along with continued promotional support all managed through the toolbox Content Management System and hosted on the Dreambox network.
Jose Pepper’s & Cactus Grill
Spreading through Kansas and Missouri like wildfire is the Jose Pepper’s chain of Mexican restaurants. Building on the brand’s success the Cactus Grill up-scale concept was launched to further expand into a higher-tier customer segment. With 12 locations across two states Jose Pepper’s continues to serve up exciting meals.
Jose Pepper’s came to Dreambox looking to replace an out-dated web site that was light on functionality and severely behind in terms of experience. Dreambox worked with the staff from Jose Pepper’s to design and build a web site to showcase the brand and menu along with the ability to order gift cards and merchandise online. Employee applications were submitted online and stored in their back-end database for future reporting/retrieval. All of this powered by the Dreambox content management system and hosted on the Dreambox network.

Elephant Bar came to Dreambox in 2012 looking for a creative agency capable of capturing the essence of this storied and unique brand and reaching guests in a direct, communicative manner along with the technical expertise to deliver the web site in the most effective way possible. Working to address PC, tablet and mobile users through the build of a responsive web layout meant designing distinct and related user interfaces each tailored for the various platforms. The Dreambox creative team worked closely with our developers to produce a web site that stayed true to the original creative vision while providing an ideal user experience for each user-type. Each platform receives an optimized experience, all loading from the same web site reducing future administrative burden and cost.
Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks
Islands Restaurants was founded in 1982 with a basic philosophy – serve great, fresh food with friendly service in a fun atmosphere. This successful concept has grown to over 50 locations in 5 states with each capturing the essence of their founder’s experiences dining on Oahu in the 1960s. Being a company wishing to stand apart from the crowd Islands has always looked for innovative and creative approaches to solve their marketing goals.
As a proud supporter of the Children’s’ Miracle Network Hospitals Islands chose Dreambox to conceptualize, design and execute a comprehensive advertising campaign designed to promote Islands involvement and raise funds for the organization. This included all aspects of planning, media buying, creative execution, tracking and follow-up reporting. Additionally Dreambox was hired to build a newly designed web site to best showcase the brand and their fabulous hamburgers, fries and ice-cold beer. This web site incorporates social-media tie-in through a ‘Buzz’ section letting the public tell the Islands story while maintaining strong centralized control over locations, menu…etc.
In 1948, the first In-N-Out Burger was opened by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. The Snyders' business philosophy was simple: "Give customers the freshest, highest quality food you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment." These guiding principles continue to serve as the Company's fundamental philosophy. With such a well established brand, In-N-Out came to DreamBox looking for a partner able to artistically capitalize on its proud history while incorporating the latest technologies available.
Dreambox was first hired to perform the design and build of the current In-N-Out web site in 2004 that has evolved since to incorporate new features/capabilities as Company priorities have dictated. When the first Benihana opened in 1964, American diners were unfamiliar with the elegance and intricacies of Japanese cuisine. The very thought of having a chef prepare a meal right at your table was completely unheard of. And the idea that exotic Japanese dishes could be blended with a dazzling chef performance was a radical one — but it was one that became Benihana’s recipe for success, with more than 100 million meals served since 1964.
Benihana first came to Dreambox in 2000 looking to engage a new Web consulting firm to deploy Benihana-branded, Japanese-themed e-greeting cards on their web site. With that project completed successfully Benihana and Dreambox worked together to deploy the Japan Corner web site. This web site was designed to further educate the American public about various facets of Japanese culture, history, customs…etc. What followed was the first complete redesign and build of Benihana.com by Dreambox. This web site was awarded the 2003 Hospitality and Technology magazine award for the top national chain restaurant web site (beating out Starbucks and Burger King). Over the next many years two subsequent versions of the Benihana web site were deployed including additional features to engage customers and further refine the brand’s presentation online. Additionally, Dreambox built Benihana’s corporate Intranet, integrated the web site branding with their investor relations provider, managed and designed their Email marketing / reporting and hosted all of the various sites / applications on the Dreambox network.

El Torito came to Dreambox in 2007 to design and build a web site to best represent their well established brand. In business and a staple of much of the US since 1958 El Torito is synonymous with Mexican Food. A proud long-term customer Dreambox has handled the following for El Torito:

With 7 locations spanning Southern California, Cabo Cantina is the perfect place to enjoy good drinks, good food and good prices in a fun, casual atmosphere filled with upbeat party hits and classic rock booming from their jukebox. Cabo Cantina has become a staple as THE place to go for a frothy Mega Margarita on a sunny afternoon, an ice-cold cerveza after work, or perfectly chilled tequila shots before a big night out on the town.
In 2010 Cabo Cantina selected Dreambox after a very detailed selection process to design and build the web sites for both its Cabo Cantina and Fiesta Cantina brands. The web sites were designed to leverage both concepts’ similar branding while capturing the essence of what makes their restaurants unique. Dreambox designers conceptualized a creative mesh of photos, paintings and original graphics to produce the eventual web site layout. Additionally a special events form and Email signup form and database were created to grow the interaction between guest and restaurant.
Claim Jumper Restaurants
Founder, Craig Nickoloff, opened the original Claim Jumper Restaurant in Los Alamitos, California on September 27, 1977. Today, there are 37 locations throughout Arizona, California, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Claim Jumper Restaurants are popular with a large audience including families, children, seniors and business professionals. Their friendly environment is ideal for celebrating special occasions, hosting a business lunch or gathering for a delicious meal with friends and family.
Claim Jumper came to Dreambox in 2009 to salvage a new web site project that had been stalled for nearly a year with another firm. Thanks to a key employee’s previous experience working with Dreambox we were hired to design a web site representative of the company’s long-storied brand and complete development of their ecommerce site using an unusual ecommerce software package. What followed was a re-branding of the web site in 2010 to remain consistent with newly designed in-store collateral.
After two years of progressive updates to the web site that saw regular enhancements, promotional postings, menu updates…etc. and finally a change in Claim Jumper’s ownership, Dreambox was again able to build a completely new Claim Jumper web site from the ground-up. This process involved examining new in-store collateral and designing a responsive web layout simultaneously targeting PC, tablet and mobile users while providing an interactive menu navigator and automated location search tools. Dreambox continues to collaborate with Claim Jumper / Landry’s marketing staff on regular promotions and web site updates and hosts the web site on the Dreambox network.

Dreambox and SRC started working together in 2010 on a project to replace each of their twenty-three restaurant web sites, all with distinct branding, with a content management system designed to simplify future web site updates and streamline event request management. The end result was implementation of Dreambox’s Enterprise-Class Content Management System allowing for unit managers to manage their individual store’s content and events while providing corporate the ability to control content and track events company-wide. El Torito Grill
Designed as a more upscale version of El Torito, El Torito Grill offers a more sophisticated Mexican casual dining experience. Founded 25 years ago, the Company currently operates seven El Torito Grills in California. El Torito Grill distinguished itself from other Mexican casual dining concepts by combining high quality, innovative modern dishes with Mexican classics.
When Real Mex Restaurants chose Dreambox to replace each of their concepts’ web sites in 2006 El Torito Grill’s web site was the first to launch. This web site had very specific graphic presentation requirements concerning animated, ‘flames’ to represent the grilled nature of the bulk of their menu while maintaining content populated by the Dreambox content management system. Over the years Dreambox has worked with Real Mex staff on developing new online promotions, tracking/reporting usage and integrating with third-party Email list providers all while the web site is hosted on the Dreambox network.
King's Seafood Company
Evolved through over 60 years of family restaurant business experience. In 1945, Lou and Mickey King, Jeff and Sam King's respective fathers, began to build the King's Restaurant chain throughout Southern California. After a hugely successful run of almost 40 years, the family sold the chain of six restaurants to Tiny Naylor's, Inc. in 1982. Having turned its focus to seafood a decade ago, King's Seafood Company continues to establish seafood-inspired restaurants that are committed to providing guests with products of superior quality and freshness.
King’s came to Dreambox in 2012 with a Flash-heavy web site needing visibility on tablet and mobile devices. Leveraging extensive experience brining a traditional, ‘Flash’ experience to tablet and mobile users Dreambox was able to meet the project goals and was later selected to wrap up work on their internally-built Water Grill web site.

Doraku is a growing two-unit sushi restaurant with locations in South Beach, Florida and Waikiki in Hawaii. Doraku’s mission is to combine the flavors of Latin Cuisine with traditional sushi representative of founder Kevin Aoki’s native Japan. Meals are served in the Japanese, ‘family-style’ allowing all guests to experience each of the unique flavors they offer. Boasting one of the largest and most diverse sake collections in the United States Doraku has found a recipe for success.
Previously a subsidiary of Benihana, Doraku came to Dreambox to build a web site in 2002 showcasing the restaurant’s revitalized branding and providing an innovative first: online sushi ordering and delivery. Customers were able to place their orders online which were then sent to the restaurant for fulfillment and delivery. Dreambox worked with Doraku staff to craft a seamless process streamlining in-restaurant adoption all while the application and web site were hosted on the Dreambox network.
Chevys Fresh Mex
Founded in 1986 in Alameda, California, Chevys is an ultra-casual restaurant concept that offers guests an array of freshly prepared Mexican dishes in a relaxing atmosphere. Similar to other Real Mex restaurants, Chevys prepares its dishes daily from scratch using only the freshest ingredients. Chevys is a national brand with locations in 14 states. Chevys' store base includes 64 Company-owned restaurant locations and 22 franchised restaurants. With more than 25 years of successful operations, Chevys is the most widely recognized Mexican casual dining brand in northern California, and is the second largest Mexican casual dining brand in California in terms of number of restaurants, behind El Torito.
During the process of re-designing and developing the other Real Mex Restaurants’ web sites in 2006 we were selected to work with Chevys’ advertising agency that had already designed a motif for the new web site. We took the graphical layout provided and built the complete the web site along with full content management system integration and continued to host the web site on the Dreambox network. Later in 2012 Dreambox was again selected to design and build a new public-facing web site for Chevys to celebrate the launch of the Company’s new menu and associated branding. This process involved working closely with Real Mex Restaurants staff to rapidly build a web site equally at home on PC, tablet and mobile through the use of a responsive web layout.
Originally owned by Yard House Restaurants, Tequila Jack’s is a beach/cantina themed restaurant and tequila bar located in sunny Long Beach, California. Our initial work with Tequila Jack’s consisted of injecting our content management system into their existing web site to provide Yard House staff with the ability to manage this additional concept’s web site content and menu pricing along with assuming web site hosting duties.
Some years later Yard House sold Tequila Jack’s to its present owners who chose to retain Dreambox and a new web site was launched complete with onsite photography taken by Dreambox. As the concept has evolved the owners have chosen to retain Dreambox for yet another web site build which we proudly look to launch in the near future.
Acapulco Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
Founded in 1960 in Pasadena, California, Acapulco has developed a loyal guest following and is a leading brand in the Mexican casual dining segment. Acapulco is currently the third largest Mexican casual dining restaurant brand in the state in terms of number of restaurants behind El Torito and Chevys. Known as a casual, neighborhood restaurant offering generous portions of California-Mexican cuisine at attractive prices, the concept can best be described by the phrase "mi casa es su casa" which translates to "my house is your house". Acapulco is known for providing its guests with a compelling value proposition, providing a great meal at a great price.
Prior to engaging Dreambox to re-build the Acapulco web site Real Mex Restaurants had worked with an advertising agency to launch new restaurant branding. One result of this was a very strict set of web site style guidelines that Dreambox worked within to build a new Acapulco web site complete with content management system integration for easy populating of menu and other content. The web site continues to be hosted on the Dreambox network and receives regular promotional updates.
